The Lyric Opera of Chicago broadcasts returns to Red River Radio following the end of the Metropolitan Opera season with eight new productions! Since its early days, Lyric Opera of Chicago has been regarded as one of the top three US opera companies, along with the Met and San Francisco. Chicago boasts an opera company that’s second to none, with stellar casts, sets, and one of the finest orchestra in the world. Red River Radio is pleased to bring this glorious opera showcase back to our schedule. Opera lovers will enjoy and exciting season.

Lyric Opera

Airs Saturday, June 14 at 12 noon. This week the Lyric Opera of Chicago presents Johann Strauss, Jr.'s delighfull opera Die Fledermaus featuring Juliane Banse as Rosalinde with Bo Skovhus as Eisenstein, Daniela Fally as Adele, Adrian Eröd as Falke, Michael Spyres in the roll of Alfred, Emily Fons as Prince Orlofsky and Andrew Shore as Frank.  E. Loren Meeker directs this production and Ward Stare conducts the Lyric Opera orchestra and chorus.

Airs Saturday, June 7 at 12 noon.  This week the Lyric Opera Of Chicago brings us Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece La Traviata featuring Marina Rebeka in the role of Violetta with Joseph Calleja as Alfredo, and Quinn Kelsey as Giorgio Germont. Massimo Zanetti conducts the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus in this production.

Airs, Saturday, May 31 at 12 noon. This week the Lyric Opera of Chicago presents Wagner's masterpiece Parsifal staring Paul Groves as Parsifal with Daveda Karanas as Kundry, Thomas Hampson as Amfortas, Kwangchul Youn as Gurnemanz, Tómas Tómasson as Klingsor, and Rúni Brattaberg as Titurel. Sir Andrew Davis conducts.

Dan Rest / Lyric Opera Of Chicago

Airs Saturday, May 24 at 12 noon.  Join the Lyric Opera of Chicago for a Puccini masterpiece and one of the most beloved operas of all time with a stellar cast featuring Stefano Secco as Lt. B. F. Pinkerton and Maryann McCormick as Suzuki with Christopher Purves as Sharpless, Patricia Racette as Cio-Cio-San and Richard Ollarsaba as the Imperial Commissioner. This performance also features Will Liverman as the Official Registrar, David Govertsen as The Bonze, Anthony Clark Evans as Prince Yamadori, Laura Wilde as Kate Pinkerton and Tye Pauley as Butterfly’s child Sorrow.

Airs Saturday, May 17 at 12 noon. Featuring Anthony Clark Evans as Montano, Antonio Poli as Cassio, and Johan Botha as Otello, with Falk Struckmann as Iago, John Irvin as Roderigo, Ana María Martínez as Desdemona, Julie Anne Miller as Emilia, Richard Ollarsaba as A Herald and Evan Boyer as Lodovico. Bertrand De Billy conducts. Actors: Phoenix Alazam, Jon Beal, Michael T.
