The Lyric Opera of Chicago broadcasts returns to Red River Radio following the end of the Metropolitan Opera season with eight new productions! Since its early days, Lyric Opera of Chicago has been regarded as one of the top three US opera companies, along with the Met and San Francisco. Chicago boasts an opera company that’s second to none, with stellar casts, sets, and one of the finest orchestra in the world. Red River Radio is pleased to bring this glorious opera showcase back to our schedule. Opera lovers will enjoy and exciting season.

Airs Saturday, June 20, at 12 noon. This week from the Lyric Opera of Chicago we present Richard Wagner's Tannhäuser, starring Johan Botha as Tannhäuser and Amber Wagner as  Elisabeth, with Michaela Schuster as Venus, Gerald Finley as Wolfram, and John Relyea as Landgraf. Sir Andrew Davis conducts the Lyric Opera orchestra and chorus. Suzanne Nance will host and is joined by guest commentator Roger Pines. 

Airs Saturday, June 13, at 12 noon. This week from the Lyric Opera of Chicago it's one of Rogers' and Hammerstein's best loved works, Carousel starring Laura Osnes as Julie Jordan and Steven Pasquale as Billy Bigelow, with Jenn Gambatese as Carrie Pipperidge, Charlotte D’Amboise as Mrs. Mullin, J. Michael Finley as the First First Policeman, David Lively as David Bascombe, and Pamela Williams as Mrs. Bascombe. This production also features Denyce Graves as Nettie Fowler, Matthew Hydzik in the roll of Enoch Snow, Jarrod Emick as Jigger Craigin, and Emily Rohm as Arminy.

This week from the Lyric Opera of Chicago it's Donizetti's Anna Bolena featuring Sondra Radvanovsky as Anne Boyleyn, Jamie Barton as Jane Seymour, Bryan Hymel as Lord Richard Percy, Lord Richard Percy as Henry VIII, Richard Ollarsaba as Lord Rochford, and John Irvin as Lord Hervey. Patrick Summers will lead the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus with host Suzanne Nance and special guest Roger Pines.

This week on the Lyric Opera of Chicago we present Verdi's Il Trovatore featuring Andrea Silvestrelli as Ferrando; J’nai Bridges as Inez; Amber Wagner as Leonora; and Quinn Kelsey as Count Di Luna. This production also features Yonghoon Lee in the roll of Manrico, with Stephanie Blythe as Azucena; Kenneth Nichols as An Old Gypsy; Timothy Bradley as A Messenger; and Jonathan Johnson as Ruiz. Asher Fisch will lead the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus and Suzanne Nance will host with guest commentator Roger Pines.
