     Red River Radio is pleased to continue its American Opera series with six new productions from the 2014-15 LA Opera season. (Mark Swed, Los Angeles Times).       Conductor and Music Director James Conlon has developed a vast symphonic, operatic and choral repertoire and has established enduring relationships with the world's most prestigious symphony orchestras and opera houses. Through worldwide touring to North and South America, Asia, and Europe, an extensive discography, frequent television appearances and guest speaking engagements, he has become one of today's most recognized conductors.

Airs Saturday, August 22, at 12 noon. The Final broadcast in this year's LA Opera broadcast season feature Jules Massenet's 'comédie lyrique' in three acts and seven tableaux, Thais, starring Nino Machaidze as Thais, Placideo Domingo as Athanael, and Paul Groves as Nicias, with Valentin Atkin as Palemon, Milena Kitic as Albine, Hae Ji Chang as Crobyle, and Kihun Yoon as Servant. Nicola Raab directs and Patrick Fournillier will lead the LA Opera Orchestra in this production of Thais on Red River Radio. Duff Murphy will host.

Airs Saturday, August 15, at 12 noon. This week from the LA Opera they conclude their Figaro Unbound series with a performance of John Corigliano's The Ghosts of Versailles conducted by James Conlon and directed by Darko Tresnjack. This production stars Victoria Livengood as the Woman with Hat, Kristinn Sigmendsson as Louis XVI, Scott Scully as the Marquis, Patricia Racette as Marie Antoinette, and special guest artist Patti Lapone as Samira.

Airs Saturday, August 8, at 12 noon. On this week's production from the LA Opera, it's the second of three works that re-envision Figaro with The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Roberto Tagliavini stars as Figaro with Pretty Yende as Susanna, Ryan McKinny as Count Almaviva and Guanqun Yu as Countess Almaviva. Renee Rapier is Cherubino, Kristinn Sigmundsson appears as Doctor Bartolo, Lucy Schaufer is Marcellina, and Philip Cokorinos will play Antonio. James Conlon leads the LA Opera Orchestra and Chorus in this production directed by Ian Judge.

LA Opera

Airs Saturday, August 1, at 12 noon.  This week the LA Opera explore Figaro unbound in a new production of The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini. Rodion Pogossov stars as Figaro, with René Barbera as Count Almaviva, and Elizabeth DeShong as Rosina. This production also features Alessandro Corbelli as Doctor Bartolo, Kristinn Sigmundsson as Don Basilio, Lucy Schaufer as Berta, and Jonathan Michie as Fiorello. Trevore Ross directs this production and c leads the La Opera Orchestra and Chorus in The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini. Duff Murphy will host.

Airs Saturday, July 25, at 12 noon.  This week from the LA Opera it's a double bill featuring two seemingly disconnected works, Dido and Aeneas By Henry Purcell And Bluebeard’s Castle By Béla Bartók. The common thread? Tune in and find out. Steven Sloan will lead the LA Opera Orchestra and Chorus in Dido and Aeneas staring Paula Murrihy as Dido and Liam Bonner as Aeneas, with Kateryna Kasper as Belinda, John Holiday as the Sorceress, Summer Hassen as Second Lady, G. Thomas Allen as First Witch and Darryl Taylor as Second Witch.
