So Much Music - So Little Time

The Caravan is a Weekly program featuring a diverse selection of music and hosted by Bill Beckett. Each week you'll hear selections from across the globe in a mosaic designed to carry you along effortlessly. The program will feature a broad mix in hour one with certain recurring themes.

Hour two will feature live concert material gathers from around the country and world, from locally produced concert recorded in our new studios to concert we record at venues around our listening region. We will also feature specials on a variety of musical subjects and live CD material as well.

Hour three is simply called be quiet and play the music. This hour is designed as a 52:00 minute segment of music with no breaks. A listening experience that is unique. Underneath the music is a sort of hidden theme that only Bill knows and he's not telling, so you can approach the hour and let it affect you in your own unique way. Bill will return near the end to let you know what you've heard and close out with one final song.

Waylon Jennings

Waylon Jennings & The Waymore Blues Band: Never Say Die

Airs Friday, November 8 at 11 p.m. This radio documentary pays tribute to American legend Waylon Jennings, tells the story behind his final concert at Nashville's Ryman Theatre, and features many musical highlights of that historic night.  By 2000, Waylon Jennings had over 40 years of experience on stage. He started as the bassist for Buddy Holly in the late 1950s, and over the years, Waylon continually grew as a musician and bandleader. Health problems took their toll on Waylon in the 1990s. He suffered from emphysema, diabetes and had a mild stroke. Despite all that, Waylon wanted nothing more than to get back on stage. In early 2000, he put together a band with many of his favorite musicians and called it, "The Waymore Blues Band." At the time, Waylon may not have known that it would be one of his last concerts. He may not have even cared. His only concern was to pull out all the stops and make this just as memorable as every other time he took the stage.

The Emergence of Joni Mitchell

The Emergence of Joni Mitchell

Airs Friday, November 8 at 9 p.m. Joni Mitchell recently released her first album of new material in 10 years ("Shine,"), and award-winning producer Paul Ingles marks the occasion by hosting "The Emergence of Joni Mitchell," a two-hour examination of one of the most heralded songwriters of her time. In this third installment of his series on the seminal work of important figures in popular music, Ingles and his guests explore how Joni Mitchell crafted her artistry and connected with audiences over four decades. Mitchell put the experience of being a woman and being human on artful display through her blatantly honest and confessional lyrics, innovative open guitar tunings and jazz-inflected vocals.
