The WFMT Radio Network is proud to make the American Opera Series available to our affiliates. The American Opera Series is designed to complement the Metropolitan Opera Broadcasts, filling in the schedule to complete the year. This year the American Opera Series features great performances by the Lyric Opera of Chicago,Operas from the BBC and the European Broadcasting Union, LA Opera, San Francisco Opera, Opera Delaware, and Opera Southwest We hope you’ll join us!

Airs Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 12 noon. This week we present Opera North's production of Giuseppe Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera starring Rafael Rojas as King Gustavus; Philip Rhodes as Count Anckarstroem; Adrienn Miksch as Amelia; Patricia Bardon as Ulrika Arvidson; Tereza Gevorgyan as Oscar; Dean Robinson as Count Ribbing; John Savournin as Count Horn; and Richard Mosley-Evans as Christian. Richard Farnes will lead the Opera North Chorus and orchestra in this performance.

This week we present The Scottish Opera in a production of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin starring Samuel Dale Johnson in the title role and Natalya Romaniw as Tatyana, with Peter Auty as Lensky, Sioned Gwen Davies as Olga, and Alison Kettlewell as Madame Larina. The Scottish Opera Orchestra and chorus are under the direction of Stuart Stratford.

Our opera season continues this summer The Royal Opera House of London's performance of Verdi's MacBeth starring Željko Lucic as Macbeth, Anna Netrebko as Lady Macbeth, Ildebrando D'Arcangelo as Banco, Konu Kim as Malcolm, and Yusif Eyvazov as Macduff. The Royal Opera House Orchestra & Chorus is under the direction of Antonio Pappano.

Airs Saturday, June 22, 2018, at 12 noon. Our opera season continues this summer The Royal Opera  House of London's production of George Benjamin’s Lessons in Love and Violence. This production stars Stéphane Degout as King, Barbara Hannigan as Isabel, Gyula Orendt as Gaveston, and Peter Hoare as Mortimer. this performance also features Samuel Boden, Jennifer France, Krisztina Szabó, and Andri Björn Robertson. George Benjamin conducts this production by the The Royal Opera House of London.

Our opera season continues this summer with the Lyric Opera of Chicago's performance of Vincenzo Bellini's I Puritani starring Albina Shagimuratova as Elvira, Lawrence Brownlee as Arturo, Anthony Clark Evans as Riccardo, and Adrian Sâmpetrean as Giorgio. Eric Einhorn directs, Michael Black is our chorus master, and Enrique Mazzolla will conduct the Lyric Opera orchestra and chorus in this production.
