Voters Registration Week In Louisiana

VOTER REGISTRATION WEEK IN LA:   It’s “Voter Registration Week” in Louisiana, and Secretary of State Tom Schedler  is encouraging  citizens who are eligible to vote to register.  Speaking at the Baton Rouge Rotary Club recently, Schedler explained  that  it’s easier than ever to get registered online.  While getting people to register to vote is important,  Schedler explains that getting people to vote is equally important. Schedler took issue with recent reports of voter supression, challenging anyone to bring to his attention any claim of someone's right to register to vote or cast a ballot has been "suppressed".  Instead he felt that low voter turnout comes from "depression rather than supression",  citing partisan media outlets as discouraging would-be voters who turn off and tune out.  Schedler stressed that all registered voters have a civic responsibility to vote.  To register online go to: http://sos.la.dot.gov
