Texas Rangers Investigate Karolyi Ranch For Sexual Assault

GYMNASTICS SCANDAL: Texas  Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered the Texas Rangers to investigate the Karolyi Ranch in Walker County following sexual assault accusations from U.S. gymnasts who trained there. Texas Public Radio’s spoke with attorney Deborah Daniels, a former federal prosecutor, who was hired by U.S. Gymnastics to investigate the Texas facility as well as others across the country to

determine what improvements could be made when athletes report sexual abuse. “There were a number of recommendations I made to USA Gymnastics, there were 70 in total.  They ranged from board oversight to a cultural shift so that everyone remembers that athlete protection has to come first.” The Karolyi Ranch near Houston, Texas  is where former USA Gymnastics Dr. Larry Nassar once worked.  Nassar has been sentenced to more than 175 years in prison this past week. According to a Judge in this case,  more than 265 victims have come forward with over 160 women saying Dr. Nassar sexually abused them during treatments over the years.
