Sound of Art Exhibition at Norton Gallery in Shreveport

SOUND OF ART - The R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport has a new exhibit where you’ll want to bring your headphones to get the most out of it.  "The Sound of Art" melds audible and visual arts to create an elevated museum experience.  The Norton’s Designer of Exhibits and Special Events—Emily Feazel gives us an overview:  "The new exhibit at the museum is 'The Sound of Art' it's a collaboration and pairing of sound and music with art pieces throughout our

SOUND OF ART: Visitors to the R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport can access music paired with certain artpieces through March 4th.

permanent collection.  So we had community contributors come in,  anyone from musicians, authors, brewery owners, conductors from the symphony---and they all chose a piece of artwork and they paired it with a piece of music that they think best represents that painting or sculpture."  One of the local musicians who worked on this exhibit is guitarist, Wayne Sallee.  We asked him to share his thoughts. on the walls--the art itself-- took a long time to make.  There's more to it than just paint and brushstrokes, people's heart and soul has gone into that piece."  Wayne points out one artpiece in particular. "When I was looking at the 'Africa Awakening' sculpture, looking into the person's eyes really stirs you.  So there's a lot of inspiration here."

“The Sound of Art” exhibit at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport will be on display through March 4th.   There’s also a special event this Friday evening , Jan. 26,2018 – A Taste of the Norton will take place featuring gourmet food and drink…AND music. it begins at 6pm and there is a charge… for more information:

R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport, LA

Chuck Smith brings more than 30 years' broadcast and media experience to Red River Radio. He began his career as a radio news reporter and transitioned to television journalism and newsmagazine production. Chuck studied mass communications at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and motion picture / television production at the University of California at Los Angeles. He has also taught writing for television at York Technical College in Rock Hill, South Carolina and video / film production at Centenary College of Louisiana, Shreveport.
