NAACP FORUM-   Some schools in Caddo Parish have received low performance ratings and it appears that schools graded “D” or “F” by the Department of Education are in neighborhoods  serving predominantly children of color.  The Shreveport NAACP is holding a public forum this evening at Booker T. Washington  High School.  On the line is Lloyd Thompson,  president of the NAACP’s Shreveport Branch  who explains why this event is taking place. "I decided some year's ago when  I started looking at  'F' and 'D' schools in Caddo parish,

identified that most of those schools are on the side of the tracks of moderate-to-low income communities of color.  I figured we need to have a serious conversation whether we are addressing the problems,  we're closing school buildings down and our problems are not getting any better. So I put together a great group of experts to come in and talk about what we need to do as a community and turn it around and make sure our kids get a quality-education in Caddo parish throughout the northwest part of the state."  Thompson explains concerned citizens should attend this event because it offers an opportunity to hear from experts on what could be done to solve the problems about failing schools in their neighborhoods.

"A Serious Talk About Education," sponsored by the Shreveport NAACP This evening at  Booker T. Washington High School auditorium  6 p.m. 2104 Milam St. Shreveport.  FOR MORE INFORMATION CALL:  (318) 828-1905
