Salvinia Compounds Fight Plant And May Fight Cancer

TWO EVENTS FOCUS ON SALVINIA:  Salvinia is an invasive water plant that takes of lakes and bayous in the south.  Two events will be focusing on Salvinia,  one is the 2nd Annual Get Together and Rib Cook Off to be held Saturday, October 1st at Lake Bistineau in Doyline, LA.  The other is an informative seminar on Monday,  October 3rd at the Noel Memorial Library on the LSUS campus in Shreveport.    Dr Shiyou Li from Stephen F. Austin University / Nacogdoches, TX will be the featured speaker and talk about compounds extracted from Salvinia that can be used to fight the plant and may have anti-cancer properties as well.    For more information,  go to:  http://acsrsvp@aol.com

Chuck Smith brings more than 30 years' broadcast and media experience to Red River Radio.
