Metropolitan Opera: Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera

Airs Saturday, May 2, at 12 noon. The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera, conducted by Met Music Director James Levine. This is Maestro Levine's first network broadcast of this opera since 1997. PiotrBeczala makes a network role debut as the self-destructive King Gustavo III of Sweden, opposite Sondra Radvanovsky as Amelia, the woman he loves. DmitriHvorostovsky is Anckarström, Gustavo’s friend and Amelia’s husband; DoloraZajick is Ulrica, the fortune-teller who predicts the king’s murder; and Heidi Stober is the pageboy Oscar. Un Ballo in Maschera will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 2.
