Family Justice Center set to open in Bossier City

A Family Justice Center will officially open in Bossier City Thursday. It’s taken eight years to make this center a reality for victims of domestic violence, according to District Attorney J. Schuyler Marvin.

Marvin said in a news release that the Northwest Louisiana Family Justice Center will serve six judicial districts and nine parishes. The parishes to be served include Caddo, Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson, Sabine, Bossier, Webster, Red River, and DeSoto.

The center will provide coordinated services for domestic abuse victims, including counseling, access to an assistant district attorney, assistance in filing police and probation reports and protective orders, and help finding housing.

The ceremony is set for 2 p.m. at the Willis-Knighton Innovation Center, 2105 Airline Dr., Bossier City. The Family Justice Center is located across the street at 1513 Doctors Dr., Bossier City.

For more information contact center executive director Jeri Bowen at (318) 505-7139, or the center’s financial officer Angela Lawrence at (318) 965-2332.
