A Northern (Yellow-shafted) Flicker constructed a winter roost hole in a dead backyard tree (or snag) in eastern Texas. Our phrase "keep your snags alive" at the end of the video means to please consider keeping dead wood standing on your property because it's a requirement for a lot of wildlife, including this flicker.
