African Dust Cloud To Hit East Texas

Courtesy:NOAA

AFRICAN DUST IN EAST TEXAS: East Texans could be dealing with dust blowing in from Africa for the next couple of days. Reports from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the National Hurricane Center in Houston,   indicate   a large swath of dry, dusty air from Africa's Sahara Desert is blowing across the Atlantic and into the eastern Caribbean

The TCEQ is forecasting light amounts of patchy African dust to be in East Texas on Thursday. It could raise the daily particulate matter- 2.5 air quality index to the “moderate” range in the Longview-Tyler area.  This dust cloud could turn the sky a hazy gray color for the weekend.  Allergies and asthma may also flare up in sensitive individuals.
