Ways to Connect

The late commentator Archie McDonald often referenced his wife, Judy, in his commentaries. Through the years, we gleaned insights into their deep and abiding love for each other. This week, the city of Nacogdoches named its public library in honor of Judy B. McDonald. The recognition highlighted her 18 years of service on the Nacogdoches City Commission and as mayor. At the ceremony, Judy said Archie knew of the city's plan to rename the library. She said with a glint in her eye that Archie's response was, Great! Now I'm married to a building.

The late commentator Archie McDonald would have turned 77 on Nov. 29. In this retrospective of commentaries, now is the time to listen to Dr. McDonald count his blessings, as he gently urges listeners to do the same. Dr Archie McDonald passed away on Aug. 16. Over the past quarter, Red River Radio has aired a sampling of some of his most memorable commentaries. He contributed to Red River Radio's Friday morning lineup for more than a decade.

The late commentator Archie McDonald always penned commentaries about Thanksgiving. This was a special one to us about gratitude.

The late commentator Archie McDonald rubbed shoulders with a president or two. In light of this week's presidential election, we thought it would be entirely appropriate to revisit Dr. McDonald's chance encounters with POTUSes.

The late commentator Archie McDonald attended some political rallies over his lifetime. As the candidates hold rallies at a feverish pitch heading into Election Day 2012, we thought it would be appropriate to listen to a remembrance of political rallies from a bygone era.
