Bassmaster competitor remembers his Natchitoches roots

Keith Poche of Pike Road, Ala., hails from Natchitoches, La. He'll compete in 12 bass fishing competitions this year. It's his first time to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic.

Bassmaster Classic fisherman Keith Poche fondly recalls fishing on Cane River Lake and feels like a hometown favorite in the Classic field that includes anglers from 22 states. 

 

The competition gets under way Feb. 24.

Stress test conducted on Sparta Aquifer in El Dorado

The U.S. Geological Survey conducted a two-week heavy pumping test on the Sparta Aquifer. It's akin to a heart stress test to measure how water moves across the aquifer and replenishes itself.
