Southern Arkansas University remembers slain horse through scholarship

Southern Arkansas Univerity

Southern Arkansas University's foundation director Jeanie Bismark says a surge of online contributions made an endowed scholarship possible in honor of rodeo horse Credit Card. Five horses were stolen from Mulerider Stables last year and Credit Card was later found with a slashed throat. Bismark says the scholarship will benefit a rodeo student and enhance this intercollegiate sport at SAU.

Mud run planned for Shreveport

Lynnette Martin of Shreveport is helping to organize the first mud run in Shreveport, put on by Mud Fears Me of Dallas. Martin says participants tackle about 20 military-style obstacles during a 5K run. It's set for Oct. 27 at High Lifter Off-Road Park in Shreveport. The early registration deadline ends today.

Kansas City filmmaker prepares to shoot in Shreveport

Screenwriter Jeff Albert will begin pre-production later this summer onĀ the $15 million feature film "The Pendant." This will be Albert's first filmmaking experience in Louisiana. He says he was lured by the state's film tax credits. He chose to shoot in Shreveport because it's out of the hurricane zone.
