Webb announced Friday that he will retire later this year, according to a statement from the university. Webb has served as Northwestern State's president since 1996.</p><p>In July, he will become the university's longest serving president, surpassing Victor L. They are driven by a group of antique car owners who are making a coast-to-coast journey, 2,600 miles on country roads.</p><p>The Jeepster was built in Toledo, Ohio, by Willys-Overland Motors from 1948 to 1950. It was the last open-style car produced by a major automaker.</p><p>Jim Vacarro has restored 44 of them. He’s leading this 17-day tour that he hopes to scratch off his bucket list. Vacarro says these vehicles were marketed toward soldiers returning from World War II.</p> Wed, 09 Apr 2014 13:38:03 +0000 Kate Archer Kent 42606 at http://redriverradio.org Antique Jeepsters stop in Natchitoches on cross-country trip Six collegiate rowing teams train in Natchitoches this month http://redriverradio.org/post/six-collegiate-rowing-teams-train-natchitoches-month <p>Hundreds of collegiate rowers from six states will spend their week-long spring break in Natchitoches, training on Cane River Lake from dawn to dusk.&nbsp;</p><p>The head crew coach at Northwestern State, Jason Stelly, says Natchitoches is a haven for collegiate teams.</p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5;">“We have 33 miles of dammed up river, so there’s almost no boat traffic. No current.
