He meets regularly with public officials in Texas and Louisiana to keep the momentum going. The iconic former Marshall Hotel will be turned into a center for graduate and professional programs. The eight-story hotel built in 1929 was saved from the wrecking ball by two Marshall families who’ve been renovating the building for a decade in partnership with the city. Judge Richard Anderson, one of the partners in the public-private venture, said the building was recently appraised at $3.2 million.
