So perhaps it's appropriate that he recently issued an album called All We Are Saying, a collection of John Lennon songs. Though he's known primarily for working with other improvisers, he's of the Baby Boomer generation, and he doesn't hide his love for Beatles songs away. With a band including steel guitarist Greg </span>Leisz<span style="line-height: 1.5;">, violinist Jenny </span>Scheinman<span style="line-height: 1.5;">, bassist Tony </span>Scherr<span style="line-height: 1.5;">, and drummer Kenny </span>Wollesen<span style="line-height: 1.5;">, </span>Frisell<span style="line-height: 1.5;"> doesn't reinvent the wheel — but he certainly gives it a new spin.</span></p><div>Set List:</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; "Across The Universe"</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; "Beautiful Boy"</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away"</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; "#9 Dream"</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; "Come Together"</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; "In My Life"</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; "Strawberry Fields Forever"</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>This concert is made possible by NPR Music and was recorded at the 2012 Newport Jazz Festival.</div><p> Wed, 06 Feb 2013 03:00:00 +0000 Wally Derleth - Evening Jazz 23053 at Newport Jazz Festival: Bill Frisell Live Savannah Music Festival: Bill Charlap and Renee Rosnes Live <p><strong>Airs Thursday, November 23 at 8:00 p.m.&nbsp;</strong>The art of playing jazz piano is something that Bill Charlap and Renee Rosnes pursued for more than 20 years before they met one another. After these two premiere pianists fell in love and became a couple, they realized that one of the biggest challenges of being married and working together was finding time to rehearse. With three children and busy careers playing as leaders of their own groups, they eventually made the time to record together and began touring as a duo. This episode features highlights from two concerts that they played at the Charles H. Morris Center, across from each other on two nine-foot Steinways.&nbsp;</p><p> Fri, 23 Nov 2012 02:00:00 +0000 Rob Gibson 20059 at Savannah Music Festival: Bill Charlap and Renee Rosnes Live Savannah Music Festival: Bill Charlap Trio Part 3 <p><strong>Airs Thursday, November 8 at 8:00 p.m.</strong>&nbsp; When pianist Bill Charlap arrived in Savannah with his trio to play three sets of music over the course of one evening, he made it emphatically clear that he had no intention of repeating himself.
